Impossible is Possible
I believed in Jesus Christ as a child, but my faith wasn’t solid until a remarkable encounter with God. It happened in 1991.
Back then I was an occupational therapist in Hong Kong, going to the USA for two months of training. Nervous about conducting staff training upon return, I bought a tape recorder to record every lesson.
On my first day in the USA, I discovered the tape recorder was broken — a tiny button had disappeared. I searched everywhere and prayed to God for helping me to find the button out. To my surprise, the recording function still worked though the button remained lost, allowing me to record and review lessons every night.
After training, my husband joined me for a Florida trip. I carried my dark purple backpack everywhere, containing my certificate, notes, tapes, and a newly bought camera. The backpack was always with me because the things inside were so important that I could not afford losing them.
Returning to Hong Kong late at night, we took a taxi back home. My husband placed all the baggage including the backpack in the taxi boot. Off the taxi we hurried into the lift to our 33rd floor apartment. Right after the lift door closed, I realized that my backpack was not with me and not with my husband.
Oh my goodness, my backpack was left in the taxi, deep in the dark boot!
We immediately rushed back down, but the taxi was gone. I was devastated. My certificate, my notes, my tapes were all gone. How could I conduct training with no materials? How could I prove to my boss I had attended the training? I burst into tears, getting hysterical. Totally terrified.
I called my elder brother who was once a taxi driver. We asked him what to do. He said there were over 17,000 taxis in Hong Kong. Without knowing the registration number, it’s impossible to find it. He added, “if anything valuable, the driver would have taken it; if nothing valuable, the driver would just have dumped it.“
Feeling hopeless, we knelt and prayed to God. When I stood up, I saw something incredible: the tiny tape recorder button I had lost and prayed for on my first day arriving USA was sitting on our TV box. How could it be in Hong Kong?
Then I realized that God was answering my prayer. Even a small button God helped me to have it back, how would He not return me the very important thing? At that moment, I gained an unexplainable faith that God would return my bag.
The next morning, my husband received a call from our church elder. He asked my husband over the phone,
“Wilson, did you come back Hong Kong last night?“
My husband was shocked why he knew. The church elder continued,
“A taxi driver just called to church asking if there was a person called Wilson. He said after dropping you off, he cleaned his taxi boot and found a backpack!“
My husband was shocked and shouted to me,
“Your bag is found!“
The church elder continued to say, “thinking it must belong to the young couple in the airport, the driver checked the backpack and saw piles of notes, certificate, camera and a church’s envelope, on it there is your name.“
He called the church to return the bag!
Nothing in the backpack was valuable except the camera. The taxi driver could have taken the camera and dumped the backpack into the bin. But God guided his heart to fulfil His work.
No one could have ever found his ring when it was dropped into the sea. The backpack came back to me! Absolutely a big miracle, wasn’t it?
Though, at the moment I saw the tiny button on the TV box, I had no clue how my bag would return to me, I had faith in God and trusted that He would help me.

In the last 30 years, I have experienced many big and small life issues. The God I believe is the God Almighty. He is faithful and trustworthy. He knows me, He loves me, He helps me and He answers my prayers with miracles when I put faith in Him.
9 Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
