A Life Dedicated to Church Planting and Children’s Welfare

Introduction

Fiona Oyekan has played a significant role in the development and support of church
communities across Africa and the United Kingdom. Her dedication to church
planting, alongside her passion for nurturing children, has left an enduring legacy
within these communities.

Early Involvement in Church Planting

In the formative years of church planting efforts, Fiona Oyekan worked closely with
Yinka Oyekan, to whom Fiona Oyekan is married. Together, they were at the
forefront of missionary outreach to many African countries, helping establish new
churches and providing vital support to fledgling congregations.

Recognising the need for mutual encouragement and practical assistance, Fiona and
Yinka launched the Barnabas Fellowship of Churches in 1995. This network was
founded with the purpose of offering support and help to struggling churches
throughout the UK, and overseas strengthening their foundations and enabling them
to flourish in challenging environments.

Heart for Children and Community Impact

Fiona Oyekan has had a commitment to children’s welfare. She has managed
Acorns, one of the nurseries associated with the community, and worked for the
nursery for over twenty years. Through her leadership, Acorns has provided a
nurturing environment for countless children, laying the groundwork for their future
growth and development.

Her work at Acorns exemplifies her dedication to ensuring that every child receives
care, guidance, and support, reflecting her broader commitment to service within her
community.
