Is Halloween Just For Fun?
Back to 29 October 2022, a Saturday night, it was my first October in the UK. I used to sit on the sofa after dinner to watch movies or YouTube. It popped up to me one YouTube that I thought it was a cartoon link but it was telling a ghost story, talking about a girl who killed herself wearing a red dress. I never like horror movies or any ghost stuff or topics, therefore I switched off the TV pretty quickly and went to bed.
I felt someone sitting on the edge of my bed. I moved my legs, it changed its position and sat on the other side. When I opened my eyes, there was no one in my room. In the midnight, I woke up again, I found that my husband Richard did not switch off the lamp on his work desk. On the next morning when I reminded him, Richard said he did turn it off before sleep. At that moment, I realised that a ghost had been in my house.
That was a Sunday, I talked to Pastor Joanna and asked her for help after the service. Pastor Joanna prayed for me and urged me to pray together with my family and talked about it. Later that day, our family prayed hand in hand together, confessed our sins and declared that our house is the House of the Lord. We commanded in Jesus’ name that all demons and devils leave our house immediately!
We got peace. Richard, Grace and Young Man all felt alright. It was only me that the fear came back which turned intense when I went to bed by myself at night. I called upon Jesus’ name again and again and again, till I fell asleep.
On the following Thursday evening, Pastor Joanna and Mabel came to visit us. They prayed for our family and used a Holy Oil from Israel called ‘Queen Esther’ to anoint our foreheads, my bed, the lamp on the work desk, all the windows and the doors in our house. The Holy Spirit gave two words to Pastor Mabel: ‘Anger‘ and ‘Flash images‘. We confessed our sins. I had angry feelings for Richard from time to time; Grace, Young Man and I had seen flash images via YouTube and websites.
Pastor Joanna reminded me that the fear in my heart was the devil trying to intimidate me as it recognised Jesus has a special plan for me and the Satan wanted me in fear, not walking in the path Jesus has for me.
Pastor Joanna said, “Pray Psalm 91 over yourself before you go to bed, it’s a psalm of protection, pray it in the first person”,
I dwell in the shelter of the Most High and so I rest in the shadow of the Almighty…..I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust……I will not fear the terror of night….
Greater is He (Jesus) that is in YOU than he (Satan) who is in the world! No weapon formed against you will prosper in Jesus name!
4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

I declare “the enemy’s nonsense must stop in Jesus’ mighty name! Amen!”
After that, the devil was gone. I had a strong sense from God that it was something related to the Halloween. The devils behind the Halloween are real. They are always trying to creep into our lives, to arouse fear, to steal our peace.
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Brothers and Sisters, especially parents, please don’t get involved in anything related to Halloween!
- Don’t do ‘trick or treat’
- Don’t dress up for Halloween or put up any decorations in your house
- Don’t receive or send out Halloween candies from or to people
- Be extra careful of what you are watching online
Because when you do, you may open a door inviting demons and devils in to your home. You might think Halloween is just a seasonal holiday. But it is about ghosts, about evil spirits. We are children of Holy God, we are holy. We should do nothing in connection with the Satan. We should stay away from anything which has ingredients of devils.
You might think Halloween is just a day for fun. It seems no harm for kids as a festive celebration. No, it is not. It can be a gap for the evil spirits. Don’t underestimate the enemy.
8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
