Jehovah Jireh – God Provides
The Goodness of God runs after me in my life.
I quit my employment work in August 2024 because I didn’t agree with the way the owners run their business. I decided to freelance, but soon found that, that timeframe was not the best for freelancing in my line of work as businesses were trying to minimise their use of freelance staff. As a result, rates were low and the perks were few. Things were difficult. Then I prayed, because I know that God can turn things around for me.
In the Lord’s prayer, Jesus teaches us to ask Father to “give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11).
To me, daily bread means Father’s daily provision for every area of our lives including quality jobs through which resources become available to transform our day to day lives to destiny connections.
Psalm 23:1 reminds us that the Lord is our shepherd, therefore, we shall not want. Meaning that we shall lack nothing in our lives.
These two bible verses became my anchor and I started to pray them without ceasing.
Soon after I started these prayers, a permanent role with a very attractive package became available with the company I freelanced for, but it was in London. Although, working in London brings with it a lot of opportunities, some of the downsides are the daily commute and the astronomical commuting cost by train. I asked the Regional Manager who was handling the recruitment process if the company could cover my travel costs. To my utter surprise, he said yes! And that’s how I joined the company and started my new job on 1 September 2025.
All was going well. The team was great to work with and the package that came with the job worked well for my family and I. I gave glory to God because I knew that it was He who orchestrated this for me and my family.
However, a few months down the line, the company decided to cut costs by downsizing. So they decided to make redundant my Regional Manager who employed me. Unfortunately, his replacement wasn’t so keen on covering my travel costs to work. Furthermore, the travelling was getting too tiring for me and the work became too demanding. I thought of asking for a transfer to the Reading branch. Assuming that the London package would no longer continue and the Reading one won’t be as lucrative, so I didn’t ask. Instead, I contemplated quitting my job, but that would bring me back to square one.
So I went back to my prayer altar and keyed into the same anchor verses again. “Father, make a way for me”, I cried out to Him.
One day in February 2026, I casually asked my manager if I could be transferred to the Reading branch. She posed the question to the right people within the company and a few days later, I got an email informing me that I would be transferred to Reading with NO CHANGE to my salary package! Wow, unbelievable! This was huge!
The transfer meant that I would regain two hours of my day to use as I see fit. It also meant that I can get back home earlier in the day and spend more time with my children.
This could not have come at a better time as my children need me now more than ever, with one working on starting her own business, one preparing for her GCSEs, another one on his A-Levels and the one making subject choices for the next academic year.
It could only be God who made this happen! He said in Jeremiah 29:12,
12 Then shall you call upon me and you shall go and pray unto me and I will listen to you.
I called upon Him in my time of need and as always, He listened and answered me. Hallelujah!
I give Father all the glory for his love for me and my family and His goodness in our lives. Amen.
