God’s Abundant Goodness And Promises
I had never really been great with money. If I had it I had it, if I didn’t I didn’t, it never really concerned me except when I needed to buy something.
I have always understood the value of money, through my parents and upbringing.
I have always had a good work ethic again from my Parents.
I bought my first house back in 1988 and took full responsibility for paying bills and running the house, but always managed to “get by every month” and never really managed to get anywhere financially.
In 1999 we moved to a bigger house still in Tilehurst which needed a lot of work and we had big dreams for this house, I can honestly say this was God’s house for us.
Again this was a financial struggle but we stuck with it and held onto God’s promises.
For many years (like a lot of people) getting by and sometimes not even that, there were times it felt like you were drowning.
After a while it does take its toll and you do wonder if this will ever get any better. I wasn’t really Tithing or sowing seed regularly to church, just now and again when we could.
But God remained faithful. A couple of years ago God led me to a couple of Scriptures which would really change my attitude and trust in God’s word — 2 Corinthians 9:6-15 and Malachi 3:6-12.
6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously……
8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God….
(2 Corinthians 9:6-11)
About the same time, I attended a CAP course (Christians Against Poverty), not really knowing what to expect. Nevertheless God had this.
Over a number of years God took me on an amazing financial journey of “Good Financial Stewardship”. It was all his money, honoring him with our wealth (what wealth I thought)
But God had a plan to change all that.
Scripture says if you can’t be trusted with a little, you can’t be trusted with a lot, we need to be able to handle money responsibly. (Luke 16:10)
I started to Tithe regularly through Internet Banking, that way I knew it was done but on the 1st of every month I spend time with God “handing over the Tithe and seed” in accordance with the scriptures and God’s promises of abundant blessing.
Over the years I have watched God transform our finances so we actually have monies left over. I know this is from Tithing and sowing seed and honoring God.
Sometimes when giving / sowing, I “enquire of the Lord” and the figure is “What – How Much”, believe me that does not last long.
We give to God and sow a seed or Tithe and he always gives back abundantly more than we could imagine, we could never outgive God, we don’t give to God just to get back, HE has put in place in his word sowing and reaping.
God needs to be center of our finances, I remember a major financial issue a few years ago, it was a Pension issue and moving monies from one place to another and using it to cover a debt, by a misunderstanding (by me) it could have been costly and affected things in the future, I prayed and gave it to God and trusting him, hearing his voice, over a number of days he showed me the way through it and we paid off a lot of bills at least 2-3 years earlier than expected.
God always got a plan which works, even when we mess up. Romans 8: 28 says “In ALL things God works for the good of those who love him.” It is so true, isn’t it?
I am so blessed by all the building work we are now getting and plenty of “Jobs on the cards” and keep praying more. Our God never lets us down. God says he will channel rivers of blessing and cause you to prosper.
I absolutely believe in God’s word of sowing and reaping, working on a 10% basis of giving according to scripture but it needs to be responsibly, not giving and going into debt.
I am Tithing and sowing more than ever before and it’s an absolute joy.
God never forgets a seed sown.
Looking back the past few years, I am still amazed. When we Tithed and sowed within a few days, I would receive a call or message to look at another building job.
Just look at some of the great people in the Bible and how they were blessed. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, David and Solomon….. it is also for you. God has shown me the principal of good financial Stewardship. 1 / Tithe 2 / Seed 3/ Taxes, the rest is God’s and yours and he promises to bless what is left over.
So, Give:
- With a good and cheerful heart.
- Give Responsibly
- Talk it over with God
- Sowing and reaping should be a lifestyle.
- The Farmer sows seed and expects an abundant harvest.
Our God is extremely outrageous when it comes to blessings and is more than able to bless you abundantly in all you do. Sowing is not just about finances, it can also be time, possessions, offering of help and assistance.
Be Blessed in all your giving.
8 “Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ “In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty. 12 “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the Lord Almighty.
(Malachi 3:8-12)
